The Raygun Gothic Rocketship launched onto the Playa at Burning Man 2009 as one of the most ambitious art projects in the event's history.
Built by artists Sean Orlando, Nathaniel Taylor, and David Shulman with a crew of 85 artists, engineers, and fabricators, the 50-foot, 20,000-pound steel and brushed aluminium rocket was a full-scale retro-futurist vision straight out of a 1950s sci-fi dream. Attendees could climb a gantry and walk through three interior decks, complete with aliens in tubes.
After Burning Man, the rocket toured the San Francisco Bay Area before finding a permanent home outside the Wings Over the Rockies Air and Space Museum in Denver, Colorado. Steven Fritz contributed this sticker to the Archive in 2009.
