The Temple of Joy was the official 2002 Temple at Burning Man, designed and built by David Best. Best had built Black Rock City's very first Temple, the Temple of the Mind, alongside Jack Haye in 2000, establishing what became an annual tradition: a space set apart from the celebratory burning of the Man, meant for grief, remembrance, and quiet reflection.
