Animalia Cat

Burning Man's 2023 theme, Animalia, asked Black Rock City to see itself as part of the animal kingdom rather than separate from it — animals real and imagined, remembered and mythologized. The theme drew on tonalism, the old belief that every person carries an animal counterpart bound up with who they are, and few animals carry as much of that mythic weight as the cat: worshipped as the goddess Bastet in ancient Egypt, cast as witches' familiars in European folklore, praised by Kipling as the animal that walks by itself.

Dima contributed this geometric cat-face sticker to the Archive in 2023, a companion piece to their wolf design from the same year.
