BRC Gun and Rowing Club

The BRC Gun and Rowing Club is a classic piece of Burning Man deadpan — a camp name that sounds like it belongs on a plaque outside a Victorian gentlemen's club in London, not in the middle of the Nevada desert during Burning Man 2004's Vault of Heaven theme. The combination of firearms and rowing is precisely the kind of absurd pairing that makes perfect sense at BRC.

Theme camps at Burning Man have always played with institutional identity, setting up mock lodges, clubs, and organizations as a way of lampooning the default world's hierarchies — and inviting strangers to participate in something ridiculous together. The sticker is the membership card.
