In 2020, the in-person Burning Man did not happen. What did happen was that tens of thousands of people who had been building their lives around the event for years had to find out what Burning Man meant to them when there was no Playa to go to. This sticker answers that question with a phrase that had been floating around the community for years but felt newly urgent: it is a state of mind.
Burner State of Mind is an identity claim that does not depend on tickets, weather, or a functioning calendar year. It says the values — radical self-reliance, gifting, communal effort, leaving no trace — exist in you regardless of whether the city currently exists in the desert. The burn is wherever you are.
