The Temple of Whollyness rose from the Playa in 2013 as the largest interlocking wood structure ever built at Burning Man — an 87-foot-square pyramid, 64 feet tall, assembled from thousands of precisely cut puzzle pieces without a single nail, screw, or drop of glue.
Designed by Gregg Fleishman, Melissa "Syn" Barron, and Terry Gross, the structure held together through geometry alone. Like all Burning Man temples, it served as a place of grief, gratitude, and release — and like all of them, it burned.
